ISMA Membership

ISMA Membership Categories

ISMA is an open, dynamic and global organisation which seeks to encourage participation from as many interested parties as possible, with the objective of encouraging a high level of contribution from as many interested parties or branches of the industry as is possible.

For this reason membership of ISMA is possible is in 5 different ways:

  1. Full Membership

  2. Associate membership: Special Industry Status

  3. Associate membership: Consumer

  4. Associate membership: Manufacturing

  5. Associate membership: Distributor

Full Membership

Full membership of ISMA is open to all major security seal manufacturers worldwide, irrespective of nationality or location; details of how to apply for full membership are given in the associations by laws.

Full membership of the association entitles a business to complete access and participation in all ISMA’s key activities, as well as full voting rights on all matters of policy, strategy, international governance and formal input into the association’s position with regard third party bodies such as government agencies, non-government agencies, International Standards Organisation (ISO) or other advisory bodies.

It also allows members to display on all their literature and packing the full ISMA logo confirming their businesses commitment to the highest quality product and manufacturing systems within the industry.

Full Membership costs, a joining fee and an annual membership charge, detailed information is available directly from ISMA.

Associate Membership: Special Industry Status

For ISMA to develop, thrive and support its customers throughout the world it needs to be at the forefront of security and audit systems worldwide.

The Special Industry Status: Associate Membership is available to any Government, Non-government or special organisation which is perceived by the association as being able to make a significant contribution to the development of the security seal industry worldwide.

In return such organisations gain access to a chain of consumers worldwide who play a vital role in maintaining supply chain integrity in all the worlds’ key industries, including, Air Travel, Sea Freight and Cash Movement. ISMA’s members’ customers are literal at the front in ensuring the rapid, safe and secure movement of most of the world’s goods.

Special Industry Status allows organisations with common aims and objectives to work together in non-partisan way in a formal industry wide structure to discuss the problems and issues of the day and to evolve workable strategies which maintain the integrity of delivery systems.

This can be achieved by exchanging information and having discussions which lead to the evolution and agreement of common testing standards and procedures, which may then be proposed as to any interested parties.

Owing to the high importance of building and developing such relationships and ISMA’s belief in the importance of delivering the highest quality information to its consumers; Associate Membership: Special Industry Status is available to eligible organisations at 5% of ISMA’s normal annual membership fee.

Associate members are encouraged to attend and actively participate in ISMA meetings and have access to all ISMA services and information, but are not entitlement to attend closed sessions or to a vote on any matters of ISMA policy, strategy or rule making.

All Associate members may display on their literature the ISMA associate logo, which underlines their association with ISMA and their commitment to maintaining and propagating the highest industry standards.

Associate Membership: Consumer

ISMA understands that in today’s evolving legislative, security and chain of custody environment a number of the industry’s main consumers may wish to seek information from an objective and unbiased source.

For this reason Associate Membership: Consumer is available, the cost of such a membership is 10% of ISMA’s normal annual membership fee. This entitles consumers to attend ISMA meetings and have their issues discussed and clarified in an industry wide and objective forum, they also gain access to ISMA’s educational and information capabilities and may obtain independent advice on any problems facing their organisations. Should they wish to purchase product they will directed to ISMA members who meet only the highest independent standards.

Associate Members: Consumer are encouraged to attend and actively participate in ISMA meetings and have access to all ISMA services and information, but are not entitlement to attend closed sessions or to a vote on any matters of ISMA policy, strategy or rule making.

All Associate members may display on their literature the ISMA associate logo, which underlines their association with ISMA and their commitment to maintaining and propagating the highest industry standards.

Associate Member: Manufacturing

The security seal industry has many smaller; or non-full range manufacturers, who all contribute to building a perception of the industry world-wide, ISMA’s believes such manufactures who confirm the highest standards should be allowed their opinion and to play an important role in increasing standards and developing the reputation of our industry.

Associate Membership: Manufacturing is available to any company, worldwide, which manufacturer’s security seals and wishes to adhere to the exacting standards of ISMA membership, including product testing and delivery systems.

The cost of such a membership is 40% of ISMA’s normal annual membership fee. This entitles consumers to attend ISMA meetings and have their issues discussed and clarified in an industry wide and objective forum, they also gain access to ISMA’s educational and information capabilities and may obtain independent advice on any problems facing their organisations.

Associate members: Manufacturing are encouraged to attend and actively participate in ISMA meetings and have access to all ISMA services and information, but are not entitlement to attend closed sessions or to a vote on any matters of ISMA policy, strategy or rule making.

All Associate manufacturing members may, provided the product they manufacture confirms to ISMA rules and regulations, display on their literature the ISMA associate logo, which underlines their association with ISMA and their commitment to maintaining and propagating the highest industry standards.

Associate Member: Distribution

A key aspect of the security seal industry is its large and expanding distribution network, which literally covers every country in the world. Distributors play a key role in providing product and education to a vast army of medium and smaller users of the industry’s products.

It is vital that such organisations transmit the correct information to the end users and the best will want to ensure that this information originates from ISMA members, all of whom have met the highest standards.

To allow them to be positively differentiated from less capable suppliers/distributors ISMA has introduced the concept of Associate Member: Distribution, with this level of membership Associate Members: Distribution are encouraged to attend and actively participate in ISMA meetings and have access to all ISMA services and information, but are not entitlement to attend closed sessions or to a vote on any matters of ISMA policy, strategy or rule making.

The cost of such a membership is 40% of ISMA’s normal annual membership fee.

All Associate distribution members may, provided they only distribute product from ISMA members, display on their literature the ISMA associate logo, which underlines their association with ISMA and their commitment to maintaining and propagating the highest industry standards.
